Announcing a recall of about 30,000 furnaces sold in California. The units involved are gas-fired horizontal furnaces equipped with steel NOx rods installed above the burners and are commonly called NOx rod furnaces. These furnaces pose a substantial risk of fire. All the furnaces can be identified by the steel rods installed above the burners. The firms participating in this recall are Amana, Bard, Carrier, Goettl, Goodman, Heat Controller, Trane. These gas-fired horizontal furnaces have steel rods (right) installed above the burners.
Goodman Recalls Furnaces Due to Electrical Shock Hazard

This recall involves 80% efficiency gas-fired furnaces sold under the Goodman, Amana and Daikin brand names used with home heating and cooling systems. The recalled products have model numbers beginning AMEH80, DM80HE, and GME8, and serial numbers beginning 1609, 1610, 1611 and 1612.

48 yom, 39 yof, 5 yof & 23 mof suffered from chronic sinus ailments due to gas furnace mulfunction. furnace was emitting strange smell. there was hole in interior of furnace & this hole was serving as a catalyst for foreign substances to enter ducts of of his furnace.

Gas furnace started smelling gas leak soon after heat was turned on d/t manufacturer defects: heater box condensation collector gasket failed & gas valve failed passing gas through valve when furnace wasn't running. 43 YOF, 41 YO spouse & 7 YO child were involved in incident.
