York International Corporation Recall of Gas Furnaces

  • Date: 9/6/2001

Voluntary recall to inspect and possibly repair about 7,000 mid-efficiency 80 percent gas furnaces manufactured between May 1, 2001 and July 16, 2001 to correct possible unsecured heat exchanger tubes in furnaces. The furnaces are marketed under the York, Luxaire, and Coleman brands. York mid-efficiency 80 percent gas furnaces have been installed nationwide by independent installer and contractors. The model families that are involved are P4HU, P1DU, FL8B, G8D, G8T, and L8T. The serial numbers of the suspect units all start with the same four alpha characters WFKM and WGKM. York's quality assurance and manufacturing investigation found these furnaces could have detached heat exchanger tubes. A separated heat exchanger tube could result in leakage of flue gases, including carbon monoxide, which could result in serious injury or death.

These furnaces can overheat, causing heat-exchanger cracking, burn-through and, in extreme cases, furnace wrapper burn-through. This can lead to heating and possible burning of the drywall and other combustibles adjacent to the furnace, which poses a fire and smoke hazard to consumers. The recall involves Coleman, Coleman Evcon and Red T brand furnaces. The furnaces are a silver color with white access panels. These model furnaces with model numbers listed below are included in the recall: DGAM075BDD DGAM075BDE DGAM075BDF DGAT070BDD DGAT070BDE DGAT070BDF DGAT075BDD DGAT075BDE DGAT075BDF DLAS075BDD DLAS075BDE DLAS075BDF.

Hose Leak Prompts Recall Of Coleman Cookin' Machine

  • Date: 7/10/1990

Coleman is recalling propane hoses installed on Coleman propane Cookin' Machines because of possible fire hazards. According to Coleman, some 30,000 Cookin' Machines manufactured between November 1987 and March 1989 have hoses that may come loose from the fuel valve connection after repeated use. If the hose should loosen when the fuel value is turned on, fuel may leak from the hose and could present a risk of personal injury or property damage if ignited.

Peak Fuel Container Recalled by Coleman

  • Date: 11/21/1996
