The consumer stated that the griddle stayed on for 35 minutes before overheating the unit and the electrical cord. The consumer was able to cut the power prior to any real damage.

A 37 YOM reports that the thermostat failed while using the Panini function on Griddle. A timer was set & the sandwich placed on the grill. Within 60 seconds the sandwich was burning. When the grill was opened, the clips holding the plate failed causing the hot plate to fall.

The griddle comes with top and bottom removable grill plates. Consumer reports that during pre-heating, the clips apparently made of plastic melted and the upper grill plate which was extremely hot fell onto the kitchen counter.

Cooking plates of griddle are removable. 30 YOF stated that clips that hold plates on seem to have lost their integrity; upper plate fell off several times when top was lifted during its last use.
