Consumer was using the vacuum cleaner to vacuum the apartment. When consumer went to turn the vacuum off the switch would not work, it was also hot to the touch. consumer had to unplug the vacuum to shut it off. consumer found that wires & connections to rocker switch melted.

After running the handheld vacuum Cleaner for about 1 minute, it gets excessively hot. 53 yom sustained burns while using the vacuum Cleaner.

vacuum cleaner began turning on when it was plugged in. The switch would not operate the unit. The only way to turn it off was unplug it. the foot pedal keeps poping out of its socket & unit falls over at slightest touch, damaging floor & hitting consumer's foot.

Vacuum Cleaner's switch stopped working properly. Vacuum cleaner would turn on and then it would not turn off. When consumer took the cover off to see if a wire came loose, she noticed that the wire and plastic surrounding the wire was melting.

the on/off switch on the Vacuum Cleaner stopped working. the vacuum could be turned on only by plugging in the power cord & turned off by unplugging the cord. the switch wires were touching & the insulation had fused & bare copper was showing on one of the wires.

While replacing belt on the vacuum cleaner consumer Noticed that power switch was not always working. consumer discovered the crimp lugs on the power switch showed evidence of overheating. the plastic housing was sligtly melted inside in the vicinity of the switch.

The wires for the on-off switch on the vacuum cleaner melted together and heat damaged some of the surrounding insulation. consumer had to unplug the vacuum to turn it off.

Vacuum cleaner handle was hot to touch & sparked within handle. When handle was opened, it was discovered that wiring melted through its unsilation. Some wiring was charred & handle melted where wires were touching inside of plastic on handle. Pale greenish residue on wires.

The consumer says that the vacuum was in use when it suddenly stopped. The handle was hot to the touch. He noticed considerable amount of smoke so he unplugged it & took it outside. He opened up the unit & saw where the switch melted the wiring & the rest of the body of it.

55 YOM was using vacuum cleaner when handle got hot & unit stopped working. He took handle apart & noticed that switch in handle was burnt. He replaced switch. 1 year later, same thing happened, but this time unit smoked, wouldn't shut off with switch & had to be unplugged.

Regardless of carpet height setting on 48 YOM's vacuum cleaner, brush continues to spin even when hose with attachments is used. While cleaning upholstery, he noticed burning smell & looked at vacuum cleaner to find cord underneath brush with insulation almost burned through.

Consumer was using her vacuum cleaner for approximately 5 minutes on carpet surface when handle became hot. She turned it off & let it cool. It took 30 minutes for it to cool. Same incident happened on other surfaces. She experienced this issue for approximately 6 months.

A 51 YOF reports that while using the vacuum cleaner, she tried to use attachments & attempted to lift the vacuum. The unit was extremely hot to the touch around the bottom front & when lifted it to reach the higher area to use on top of chair, it burned a hole in upholstery.

41 YOM reports that after approximately 4 uses rubber coating on cord appeared to have been damaged by vacuum cleaner when it was accidentally run over. On 3-4 spots entire protective sheathing on wire was gone exposing inner wires, & 3-4 other spots showed chaffing.

Consumer was using vacuum cleaner & started to smell plastic burning odor. He turned unit off & when he looked at socket, he noticed it had turned black. He unplugged unit. One of metal prongs became detached & got stuck inside socket. Socket area of wall had burn marks.

A 14 MOM infant’s foot was caught in vacuum, which was set in “tools” setting, when it’s tower fell along with him during 1st time use. His right big toe looked like shredded lettuce & he was referred to plastic surgeon. Consumer is appalled that there was no safety shut-off.

48 YOF was using stick vacuum when it began to emit smoke from filter cover. Flames became visible through plastic housing around motor. She unplug it & handed to 52 YO consumer who brought it outside d/t smoke & smell. Also 13 YO child was involved in incident.
