Consumers smelled 'hot' smell. Clothes dryer heating coils were powered on when the main power switch and panel was switched "off". The only way to stop the coils from heating, was to unplug the dryer.

72 YOF stated that electric clothes dryer burned up. Fire started when dryer was in operation. Power cord was disconnected. Fire destroyed dryer. Apparently what burned was lint. It was estimated cleanup damages at $4000.

53 YOF was drying medium load of laundry when she noticed strange smell. She saw flame emitting from bottom of natural gas dryer & black smoke coming from top. She unplugged dryer & washer; her roommate threw bucket of water on dryer. Firefighters removed dryer from house.

Consumer stated that he started noticing that there was lint being deposited on his patio while clothes dryer was in use. He followed instructions that lint holder should be clean each cycle. He removed screws & noticed that partition had lint packed inside & was very hot.

After electric dryer had completed the cycle consumer smelled burning odor. She removed contents from the unit & noticed that it was extremely hot. The control functions could not power it off & circuit breaker had to be used to switch the power off to the dryer. Fire hazard.
