This recall involves the Haier models HNCM070E with 7.0 cubic foot capacity and ESNCM053E with 5.3 cubic foot capacity, and Black & Decker model BFE53 with 5.3 cubic foot capacity white chest freezers.

This recall involves the Black & Decker Model BFE53 and Haier Model ESNCM053E 5.3 cubic foot capacity white chest freezers. Only Model BFE53 and Model ESNCM053E freezers with serial numbers beginning as follows are included in this recall: 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005, 1006, 1007.

Freezer failed, food thawed & spoiled. Freezer was part of recall.

Consumer says she noticed everything in the chest freezer was thawed out. She turned the setting to the maximum, still it didn't turn on. She says there was smell of smoke by the grate on the side, and it was very hot.

Consumer reported that chest freezer just shut down while plugged in. Its outside became very warm. Consumer stated that this freezer has same problem as recalled ones. It was not overloaded or in a tight space. No injuries were reported.

A 30 YOF reports that a Freezer heated up and unthawed food. Freezer would not cool off even after unplugging, replugging and adjusting the temp settings.

Consumer reported that freezer chest is located in garage & one day he came home & noticed burning smell. He stated unit was really hot to touch. He unplugged freezer. Everything inside of it was thawed.

The motor burned up on our chest Freezer. We were on a week vacation, when we got home the house smelled like rotten meat & the room where we keep the freezer I heard a whirring noise followed by an electrical popping noise. I unplugged it. The food was defrosted.
