Name of Product: Insignia 26-inch flat-panel LCD model IS-LCDTV26 televisions. Hazard: The television’s power supply can fail, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: Best Buy has received two reports of fires that included damage to the television and wall. One consumer reported minor burns to the hands.

Consumer's TV made a loud popping sound, and then began smoking. The set was then unplugged from the wall and consumer discovered that a hole has actually melted in the back of it. Consumer states this is a fire hazard.

Consumer states their television started smoking & was very hot. Consumer's wife & son-in-law unplugged it. Consumer took it to the retailer for repair. They confirmed that TV gets hot with a smoke odor & noted that area near the power source have warped. Fire Hazard.

The consumer stated that his TV in his restaurant was smoking. The consumer has 5 of these identical TV's mounted on the walls. He saw that the TV began smoking from the back panel. Initially, the TV screen was flickering & then suddenly went black. He unplugged the TV.

Consumer reported about smoke emanating from A/C adaptor of the television & quickly snatched power cord from wall outlet. The television was turned off at the time of the incident & A/C adaptor was plugged directly into the wall outlet. The A/C adaptor was melted.

"26 YOM reported that he attempted to turn on TV to no avail. Suddenly loud "pop" happened followed by smoke & fire. Fire & smoke stopped, then few more "pops" occurred followed by more smoke. He turned set off at this point.

Consumer installed batteries in remote of TV, & after that battery compartment became very hot. Consumer removed batteries & one of two batteries was too hot to hold & its negative end was swollen. Remote was undamaged.

Consumer says she noticed a plastic burning smell and found it coming from the back of the television. She disconnected the unit from the surge connector. She says the cord was very hot and the plug to the connector was melted.

TV was functioning for about hour before 31 YOM heard pop & screen went dark but for flame inside TV behind screen. Flame inside kept growing until he shut TV off by disconnecting power supply. Burning plastic smell from electronics spread through house. He & 30 YOF went out.
