A screw located inside the refrigeration compartment on the left side of the refrigerator frame could pierce through the electrical wire harness insulation and pose an electrical shock hazard.

LG Electronics and Sears, Roebuck and Co. Recall to Repair Refrigerators

  • Date: 6/29/2005

A faulty component in the condenser fan motor can short circuit. This could cause the condenser fan motor to overheat, posing a potential fire hazard to consumers. The recalled refrigerators are LG and Kenmore Elite Trio three-door, 21 to 25 cubic foot units with a bottom freezer. The refrigerators come in titanium, stainless steel, bisque, white or black.

Consumer says came home to a house full of smoke and smell of electrical odor. Fire dept was called. Later found it coming from the refrigerator and saw flames by the relay and compressor. Consumer says her whole house could have burnt down.

34 YOF came home to the smell of smoke in house. 35 YOM pulled refrigerator out & saw ash & burn mark on kitchen tile. He unplugged it & pulled off cover to find ash, burned wires & electronics mounted to compressor. Fire department took information for their report.
