An internal electrical component of the coffeemaker can overheat and ignite, posing a fire hazard to consumers. The recalled KitchenAid coffeemakers are black, white, red, or blue in color. The affected models include 10 - cup models and 12 - cup models: KCM120OB, KCM300OB, KCM200OB, KCM400OB, KCM120WH, KCM300WH, KCM200WH, KCM400WH, KCM400ER, KCM400BU. The serial number begins with the letters WCJ, WCK, WCL, WCM, and WCP.

Consumer reports that the tea kettle has two problems. When the consumer pours the water, it can come out with explosive force. Half a cup is poured before the consumer is able to stop pouring. The steam from the spout can also burn the hand when water is being poured.

Handle of teakettle, round ball like design, gets overheat after being heated on gas range on medium setting & metal logo insert is burning hot. Also when pour boiling hot water, it will not break lip tension & will run down front of it & onto counter or 57 YOM feet & floor.

The coffee maker’s door swing open posing a burn hazard. No mechanism keeps the door secured. The unit has the coffee spill out of the rubber gasket atop. This gasket glue is peeling. The hot coffee has spilled on consumer’s foot. The new unit he received poses same hazard.

Coffee maker shorted out after it finished brewing. Consumer unplugged it & let it dry. Month later, water wouldn't filter through coffee maker & unit was hot to touch. Replacement coffee maker also shorted out once & sometimes doesn't filter water through during brewing.

Consumer stated that coffeemaker was cleaned prior to use, but coffee had strong smell & taste of melted plastic. After drinking coffee consumer had diarrhea. Consumer exchanged coffeemaker for different brand unit & had similar experience with it.

A 57 YOF was making a pot of coffee. After about 3- 4 minutes, the basket door, which is spring-loaded, flew open. Hot coffee & coffee grinds hit her on her wrist & her stomach. The consumer was burned on her stomach & her left wrist. The incident reoccurred.

A 41-YOF reports that the handle of the teakettle gets very hot and can't be held without insulation and its position places hand right over the steam. Also, poor short design of the spout makes the water come out explosively during initial pourings. Consumer was injured.

Electric coffee maker has hidden medal hinge pin in top rear that protrudes out after 3 weeks of daily use. This pin is sharp & can puncture skin. It is located where you hang plastic water canister in top rear of coffee maker. 2 replacement coffee makers have same problem.

36 YOM consumer reports that the plastic ting that connects the handle to the glass portion of the coffee maker came off and splashed hot coffee. The piece can be reapplied by press fitting it, but it's unsafe and could happen again and cause scalding or laceration injuries.
