Name of Product: KitchenAid ProLine Toasters. An interruption of power to the toaster can cause the heating elements to unexpectedly self-start and could ignite any flammable items left on top of the unit, posing a fire hazard. The recalled ProLine countertop toasters are painted die-cast metal or stainless steel and come in 2-slice or 4-slice models.

The toaster does not pop up automatically. consumer's home almost burned down because they forgot to manually pop up the toaster. The kitchen cabinet was starting to burn.

Consumer reports that the toaster was operating on its own without anyone being home for over an hour. The unit was very hot to the touch and the underside of the hanging cabinet was hot as well. This product is unsafe and a potential fire hazard.
